Rod Felton – Home Recordings and Live Songs

Rod Felton was a legendary Coventry folk /blues singer songwriter, former member of The New Modern Idiot Grunt Band with Rob Armstrong and a nationally popular solo performer in folks clubs. Rod started out as a graphic artist in the mid 60’s but soon forged a reputation on the folk circuit that was pretty unique! He performed with Beverley Kutner (better known later as Beverley Martyn (John’s wife),played venues like the Marquee 1974 with Brewers Droop and,as word has it, made an unreleased album aimed at the American market in the 70’s. At one stage he played with a reformed version Dando Shaft. I was introduced to him in 1970 by a young Pete Waterman who was a good friend and described him as the only star Coventry has produced. This set is a mix of home recorded and live tracks featuring some of his popular songs. It comes courtesy of Rod’s sister – Jan Felton. Many people still have stories and memories of Rod Felton, who sadly has now passed away. This is for them and anyone else who wishes to listen to Rod unique style of song! Trev Teasdel. 12 Tracks – Curly* – No Doubt about it (Live) – I Want to be free (ska)- I Want to get there my way – Here with Me – Interplanetary Trucker (Live) – Your Love’s Good for me* – Lady baby gypsy queen* – Love is (Taken by Surprise) (double tracked vocals) – Liberty Bell* – My Old Man* – Really don’t believe she’s true* (with fiddles).
