    I don't know what the hell that was and I Know Thile & Fleck are new grasser , But Damn that was Awful ! I'll bet Rice & White Plugged their ears ! I been playing for 45yrs and I'm not Kidding , That sucked really bad !

    Interesting–but doesn't work for me: this is a simple, melancholic song meant for a single singer with a guitar. It's like adding a lot of instrumentation to McCartney's "Yesterday."

    The bass drop at the beginning is so epic and effective in this mix. I wonder why it is more reserved in the album mix.
    Also, I love this almost-mono style where the band is mono but the room sound is stereo. Really tastefully done.

    This is not good. Take all the liberties you want with a tune or a tradition or whatever but if you're gonna do that make it sound good. This does not sound good. It sounds bad It contributes nothing. It is not good,

    The kid from Fredericksburg, Va… the guitar player… who grew up in the ol' Burg along Caroline St,. JM High, I think… got his espresso at Hyperion… did you know his dad was big time banjo player in that town? Well… I'm glad he tagged the tune with a hint how Norman and Tony woulda done it… not to say you have to replicate a cover, which Thiele didn't do. I miss Fredericksburg, what a cool town… lotsa A-List musicians clustered there.. like Keller Williams. And that Mark Newton guy… Pickers Supply the coolest guitar shop in America… and Dr. Starling who had his Ears Nose & Wallet medical practice on upper Princess Anne St. Memories.

    I wonder why Gabe Witcher (violin) lifts the bow at 2:29 about half a second before the note ends in the audio. The audio is clearly a live take and Chris Thile's solo matches what we see visibly. Maybe they flubbed the ending in this take (perhaps a bow scratch or there was some other noise picked up by the mics) and overdubbed a different audio track just for the ending.

    Sorry, but Tony Rice's version of Church Street Blues is the Gold Standard and, while I dearly love the Punch Brothers, this arrangement left me cold.
